Disability Insurance: Insure your future

When looking for the right disability insurance, the premium is an important consideration.  However, in addition to a cost comparison, it is also important to understand the benefits the plan provides if you become disabled.  After all, you are considering getting disability insurance to protect your income.  This is where I come in.  With over 30 years of experience, I am here to help you make an informed decision.

First, education is key.  One would never accept a  plan without these 6 key features:

1.  Noncancelable: your premiums cannot be increased

2.  Guaranteed Renewable: your policy is guaranteed to renew each year and your policy provisions cannot be changed

3.  Residual Benefit: you can receive a monthly benefit without ever being totally disabled

4.  Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA): when disabled, your monthly benefit would be increased yearly by an inflation factor

5.  Future Purchase Option: you can add increased coverage without being re-examined

6.  Regular / Own Occupation definition contains the Specialty Specific Provision.

For medical professionals,  Specialty Specific coverage is a must.  If you've limited your practice to a professionally recognized Specialty in medicine, the Specialty is deemed to be your Regular Occupation.  I represent the six disability insurance companies that offer the specialty specific provision, and would happy to work with you to determine the best plan to meet your specific needs.

Second, as a Resident/Fellow you are protecting 9 to 16 years of higher education.

Disability Income Insurance protects your investment in education and is considered the cornerstone of any sound financial plan.

Unexpected events happen.  Protect yourself.  Protect you family.
